Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford Truck is moving away from the traditional parts supply chain with the introduction of the "virtual warehouse".

The company is effectively preparing to combine its five main parts supply facilities in Turin, Winsford, Madrid, Trappes and Langenau into one giant computerised store, but still in the five locations.

Customers will not see the change in operations, but should benefit from improved parts supply and enhanced service. Ray Bayfiekl, director of IFT's newly formed customer services business unit says: "In short the central warehousing in Turin will become the main Iveco warehouse. But market warehouses, such as Winsford in Cheshire, will have the ability, process-wise, to deliver stock orders direct from Turin to our dealer network. "This will relieve supply line time handling and reduce costs."

In addition, Wrs dealer network will soon be able to supply parts and service for any make of truck, in an attempt to attract mixed fleet operators into the dealers. The range of parts will extend to gearboxes, clutches and service items, offering the customer a one-stop shop for all their fleet servicing.

Backing up these supply changes IFT is also moving its technical support staff from Watford to be based in the actual dealerships. This back-up, and enhanced parts supply, will be available at any time, day or night, to enable the dealer network to offer a 24-hour, 365-day operation.
