HERTZ is pulling out of the British van rental and contract hire market again, and has sold its entire contract hire business to Wincanton Vehicle Rentals.
The deal, which brings Wincanton's contract hire and Unigate inhouse fleet to 1,850 vehicles, adds fewer than 50 Hertz vehicles to its fleet, and a company spokesman added that there is no question of Wincanton taking over any of the spot hire vehicles.
After signing the deal with Hertz International director Brian Faulkner, Wincanton managing director Peter Hemmingham said: "We were the first to discuss with Hertz the possibility of acquiring its contract hire fleet. We are better placed than most of our competitors to offer Hertz's customers the high service of facilities required."
