AN International Freight Convention under the auspices of the Road Transport Industry Training Board is being held at the Grand Hotel Verdala, Malta, from March 15-22, 1976. Mr Eric Tindall, directorgeneral of RTITB, told CM this week : "The convention is completely self-supporting and will not be assisted from Board's finances."
The final cost is yet to be settled, but it is understood that the all-inclusive fee from Heathrow will be approximately £300 for delegates and £190 for their wives.
Mr S. J. Rayfield, of the board's operational services group, who has been responsible for compiling the programme, said : "We are endeavouring to cover every aspect of haulage to Africa and the Middle East. Registration is open to both those in arid out of scope and we will accept registrations from the national of any country in Europe and the Middle East."
The programme has yet to be finalised, but it is planned that the business sessions will begin on Wednesday March 17 and will deal with general trends on international haulage and then specific trends for Africa and Middle East.
