• A series of new Glasgow Corporation double-decker buses are being fitted with topdeck passenger seats made entirely of glass' reinforced polyester to cut down on wear and tear and beat vandalism, The initial trial order proved successful, and in all a batch of 50 Atlanteans, sores of them designed for one-roan operation on busy city routes, are now being fitted with the g.r.p. seats made in Glasgow Corporation transport department's bus works at Larkfield depot. Beetle polyester resin supplied by BIP Chemicals Ltd. (Turner and Newell Ltd.) is used.
Each unit consists of the seat—made in two sections and joined by an aluminium H-moulding and a pedestal. The seats are formed with two layers of 2oz glass fibre, with an extra layer on the pedestal giving it a total 6oz lamination,
