Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

livestock abroad in containers and I have heard that new regulations have been made concerning the height of the decks on double-deck transporters. However, I can find no details. Could you help me?

AThere are no new regulations but we

understand that following pressure from the R HA's livestock carriers' national functional group the Ministry of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food are granting certificates of exemption to the Animals (Sea Transport) Order 1930 which prohibits double-tier transport of animals for sea crossings. The reason for granting the exemptions we are told, is because of the development of roll-on/roll-off services. Exemption certificates are only granted on an individual basis following inspection of the transporter by Ministry officials. The deck heights are 4ft for pigs but for small pigs weighing less than 110lb liveweight 3ft 6in. deck height is allowed. For sheep 4ft is the required height but if a Ministry veterinary officer accompanies the load a reduction of height to 3ft 6in. will be allowed on an experimental basis only.
