1-1, A MOBILE mass-radiography unit,

designed to deal with 60 patients an hour, has been supplied to the South-West London Mass X-Ray Service by Rootes, Ltd.

The unit consists of a Karrier Bantam 4-5-ton petrol-driven tractor and a steelframed semi-trailer, with B.K. fully automatic coupling gear. The prime mover has an extended wheelbase a 8 ft. 2 in., to provide space for an Auto Diesel 15 kVA. oil-engined generating set that is mounted transversely behind the cab.

Of .composite construction, the semitrailer, 24 ft. 8 in long and 7 ft. 6 in, wide, was built by the Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd. Entrance doors are let in to the rear panel and the near side rear quarter panel. A double exit door is provided at the near side front of the semi-trailer.

Good interior natural lighting is achieved by two Beclawat Boreas windows in the body sides and a iargc safety glass window in the near side. There are also three tinted Perspex panels in the roof. Artificial lighting is available from fluorescent strips. Twin Vent Axia reversible fans, of 9 in. diameter, are roof-mounted with intakes in the body sides at floor level.
