UNION representatives of London bus
men may now approach the Minister of Transport, as their request to the London Transport Executive to discontinue the system allowing five standing passengers to be carried at peak hours was rejected on Monday.
The Executive stated that similar approaches had been made in 1953 and last year, and that it would be wholly uneconomical as well as cause unnecessary traffic congestion to run further vehicles at peak hours to eliminate the need to carry standing passengers,
Following the cuts in services which came into operation last week, it was reported that unofficial leaders in several garages were urging platform staffs to work strictly to existing agreements, but
few workers appeared to heed them.
