GERMAN oil-engined lorries are to be built in Egypt. Klockner-HumboldtDeutz have signed an agreement with the Egyptian Government to build a factory.
At the outset the works will be able to produce annually 3,500 .3-ton and 5-ton vehicles and 500 extra oil engines. Output is scheduled later to increase to 6,000 vehicles and 2,000 engines.
The factory will be under Egyptian control, but German experts will assist in running it. It will begin production towards the end of 1960. At the start vehicles and engines will be assembled from parts imported from West Germany.
