MR. W. P. ALLEN and the MARQUIS OF larstrimotaw have become directors of the Aldershot and District Traction Co., Ltd. Mr. Allen is chairman of the Lincolnshire Road Car Co.. Ltd., and a director of the East Kent Road Car Co., Ltd.

MR. A. S. C. CHATTEY. director of home sales of A.C.V. Sales, Ltd., has been appointed managing direct or in succession to SIR ROBERT FRVARS. As reported in " The Commercial Motor" last week. Ma. W. R. BLACK, managing director of Park Royal Vehicles, Ltd., has succeeded Sir Robert as chairman of A.C.V. Sales, Ltd.

• Ma. R. ALLEN is to succeed Ma. A. HOLFORD as tyre representative of the North British Rubber Co., Ltd., for Devon, Cornwall and parts of Somerset. MR. G. M. Prrrs-Ttiama has taken over the sales representation in Gloucestershire and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire formerly covered by MR. T. A. 13avtass, who was recently appointed assistant to the tyre sales manager. 4L.PRED SMITH, general manager of Aberdeen Transport Department, is due to retire at the end of the year, but the transport committee has recommended that he be re-engaged until June 30, 1953. His post is to be advertised.

MR. B. TURNBULL, service manager of the Standard Motor Co., Ltd., who had asked to retire at the end of the year after 32 years' service with the company, has been requested to continue working for a few months until he can be replaced.

Ma. E. C. THOMSON... M.B.E., clerk to the Scottish Licensing Authority. (Edinburgh) is retiring in January. He will be replaced by MR. I. TOWNSEND, at present clerk to the Eastern Licensing Authority, who in turn will be succeeded by Ma. F. W. Buckuoso, who is serving at headquarters.

MR. J. O. BowLty, formerly works manager of Guy Motors, Ltd., has been appointed deputy chief engineer. wheeled vehicles, at the Fighting Vehicles Research and Development Establishment of the Ministry of Supply, Chertsey. He succeeds Ma. A. P. WICKENS, who became chief engineer of the Armament Design Establishment earlier this year.

REGISTRATIONS 2,000 UP

DEGISTRATIONS of new vehicles, I N. excluding cars and motorcycles, were 2,055 higher in September than in August. The biggest single advance was in" other goods," which rose from 4,619 in August to 6,095 during September.

In the first nine months of the year, 103,102 new vehicles were registered, as compared with 112,204 for the corresponding period last year. Details appear in the table below.
