Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Oper, Haulage

The end, when it came for Pemberton Transport, was swift [see page 8), mirroring its nine-month Life under ownership. FolLowing a public inquiry tasting barely tw hours, its licence was revoked, its director lost her rep and was banned indefinitely from holding a position of authority in any transport company.

On one level, the loss of the licence was inevitable its insolvency, but the other decisions were in the balance. Mind you, if a busin is judged by the company it keeps, connections with the Tinnelly clan, CaverrkConsultants, and Alex Rawlings and Shahid Hussain the men behind the ill-s acquisitions of Eric Short Haulage arid John Mack Haulage] are hardly likely ti endear you to a Traffic Commissioner

That list is effectively a 'who's who to become involved with if you wish to at the attention of the licensing authonties. The real shame in all this as with m of the firms we have featured in connection with the above is that a previous wholly-compliant, profitable operator has disappeared in a very short period c Given the economic pressures afflicting the haulage industry there will be many small oper looking for an exit strategy.

What happened with Pemberton is a salute lesson in why its worth checking who you are selling your business to, unless you want yea hard work thrown away.

Also we have the reappearance of the Tin name at a PI in connection with -a potential abuse of the operator Licensing regime-. W says Northern Ireland needs its own TC?
