Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN persuading three Lincolnshire local

authorities not to object to their recent successful fares application, the Lincolnshire Road Car Co., Ltd., had lost £2,500 additional annual revenue. This has been stated in a report by a special services sub-committee of Kesteven Education Committee, who had intended resisting the application.

The report said that the company originally wanted to increase the price of most scholars' season tickets and lower the age limit for holders from 18 to 14. However, a compromise was reached between the company and representatives of local authorities, on the condition that their objections to the company's application were discarded.

The age for holders was fixed at 15, and it was agreed that 2/ per cent. should be deducted from the proposed new charges. Also, pupils between 15 and 18 were to travel at a 10-per-cent, reduction on normal fares by buying special "term tickets."

The sub-committee pointed out that if the original application had been approved despite objections, the education committee would have had to pay out an extra £5,000 a year in travelling expenses for children, Now the extra sum would amount only to £2,500.
