Forms Parkstone Transport Co., Ltd. with 32 Vehicles Bought from B.R.S.

OF 44 vehicles and seven trailers bought from British Road Services at Parkstone, Dorset, by Mr. A. Cusick, of Oldham, Lanes, 32 vehicles and five trailers have been assigned to Parkstone Transport Co., Ltd. Mr. Cusick is managing director of this new company, the formation of which was reported in The Commercial Motor on

May 20. •

. He told The Commercial Motor that the company would probably use 25-30 vehicles. The depot from, which they have been bought had its origins in the G. S. Maidment haulage business.

.Parkstone Transport are to run services from Parkstone to London and throughout the south and south-west of England. Services will also be operated from London to the south-west, fining into the pattern formed by the existing depots of the Cusick organization.

Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., have 36 vehicles and operate from Manchester to Hull,. Glasgow, South Wales and London. They have a depot at Glasgow, and offices at Newcastle upon Tyne, Liverpool and Bristol. Interworking arrangements are in existence in South

Wales and London.

Before nationalization, the former concern of Samuel Cusick, Ltd., Holinwood, near Oldham, were well known as -cotton hauliers, but also carried a large volume of long-distance traffic.

SCOTLAND . .

Substantial purchases by two more Scottish operators are revealed this week. Alexander Scott (Contractors), Ltd., Glasgow, have acquired another 25 vehicles, including six articulated outfits (1791 tons), and William Hamilton Motors, Ltd., Burnside, 10 lorries (52 tons).

Two of the lorries (16 tons) bought by Alexander Scott have been transferred to Mr. George Stringfellow, Glasgow.

Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Manchester, have had-transferred to them by Mr. A. Cusick, Oldham, it lorries, including two articulated outfits (49,2 tons), based in Glasgow. Mr; Cusick has also made over an artieulated outfit (41 .tons), based in Glasgow. to Siddle C. Cook, Ltd., Consett. Pentland Garage, Ltd„ Loanhead, have assigned three lorries (101 tons) to J. D. Banks and Co., Wallyford ;• Mr. L. Gicave, Audiern, Crewe, one (71 tons) to Oswald Transport, Ltd., Trabboch; Hacketts Haulage, Ltd.; Salford, one (71 tons) to Messrs. Ace Transport, Saltcoats; Mr. C. Grace, • South Elmsali, one (3i tons) to Mr. M. C. Turnbull, Lockerbie; Mr. John Glen, Dairy, one (3i tons) to Mr. Alexander Williamson, Newton Stewart; and Mr. John Hodge, Kirk .Yetholm, one (3 tons) to Mr. Philip Ferguson.. Glasgow. Mr. Ferguson has re-assigned his purchase to S. J. Harris (Transport), Ltd., Glasgow. A Glasgow-based lorry weighing81 tons unladen has gone to J. and H. Transport Services (Peckham), Ltd., London.

NORTHERN AREA

In the Northern Traffic Area, J. W.. Capstatr, Ltd.,' Little Benton, Newcastle upon Tyne, have been granted a special A licence for one vehicle (41 tons), and Valley Street Motors, Ltd., Darlington, for a vehicle of 51 tolls.
