REFERRING to "hordes of
IN. cyclists as a factor in the trans port situation, the Lord Mayor (Ald, J. Henson), who is chairman of the passenger transport committee, said: "Thousands of people ride, cycles in Hull, and I don't know of a city where public transport fluctuates more on fine and on wet days."
Hull City Council was discussing the E21,000 loss on transport operations during the past financial year. Coun. Peter Verney suggested that a , method of increasing receipts would be to accept advertisements for display outside the undertaking's motorbuses and t rolleybuses.
It was argued that adoption of this plan would not materially offset the adverse effect which increases in matntenance and overhead charges,' and wages, had had on theUndertaking's
