MR. A. L. S. COPE, export manager of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., is on his way home by sea from Sydney, Austran lia. and expects to arrive in the first week in September. He had originally planned to visit all the principal cities of Australia and then tour South and Central Africa, but his trip was curtailed by illness. He Was, however, able to tour New Zealand, and arrange for Replacement Parts (Pty.), Ltd., Melbourne, to represent Simms Motor Units, Ltd., in Victoria and Tasmania.

MR. GEORGE W. BAKER. director Of sales for AC-Sphinx Spark. Plug Co., Ltd., has just returned from a Continental selling mission. He was able to counter American competition by offering guaranteed delivery within three weeks. To carry out this promise, production at the Dunstable factory wilt have to be speeded up. With him on the tour were MR, GODFREY COTTON, public relations manager of the company, and MR, W. BLAKE, manager of AC and D R.H. Products, General Motors Export Corporation

MR. E. S. Canisi, A.M.1.Mech.E., M.I.R.T.E., has been appointed transport manager of the North Thames Gas Board. Serving his apprenticeship with the Gnome and Le Rhone Engine Co., Mr. Caplin has successively been employed with Fiat (England, Ltd., Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., and Stewart and Arden, Ltd. He joined the Gas Light and -Coke Co. in 1930, was demobilized from the Services as a Lieut.-Colonel in 1946, and rejoined the A30

MR. E. DEAKIN, deputy general manager of Chesterfield Transport Department, has been offered the post of general manager in succession to MR. R. HOGOARD, who retires on August 31.
