Smith, in his Ford, was held up on a narrow road by a heavy vehicle, which had no rear-view mirror. For more than a mile he crawled behind it, until its number plate was graven on his brain. When the offending driver, urged by a thirst for beer, pulled up at a wayside inn, Smith, urged by a thirst for blood, pulled up, too. " Hi! Mr. Holdthe-road," he shouted, " either sport a rear-view mirror or register your blighted juggernaut in some other county. When you're blind it's a silly joke to label yourself. I.C." •
