Grant was previously with Hi-Lift Trucks — a division of Electrolux — where he was general sales manager. Wilson joins Exel Logistics after seven years with EPS as logistics development manager.

• FREIGHT TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION FISHER/WARD KIRKALDY/BARTLETT The committee of the East Midlands division of the Freight Transport Association has elected its officers for 1990/91. The new chairman is Derek Fisher; senior vice-chairman is Mike Ward; vice-chairman is Andy Kirkaldy; and the national council representative is Wilf Bartlett.

• GOODYEAR MACDONALD Hugh Macdonald has been promoted to marketing manager responsible for truck and bus tyres at Goodyear. He has been with the company since 1968.

• TANKFREIGHT PRESTON Tankfreight, the bulk distributor of liquids, powders and

gases, has appointed a new regional sales manager for SouthEast England. Robert Preston joins the company form Calor Transport where he was sales executive. In his new role he will be responsible for developing Tankfreight's contract-hire and contractdistribution business in the South-East, and will be based at the Grays depot.

• CHRISTAL GROUP GILBERT/DARVILL Two new directors have been appointed by the Christal Group for its subsidiary Christal Rapid Transport. Don Gilbert joins as director and general manager, and Bill DarylII has been promoted to director after five years as customer service and sales manager.

• AVID TRUCKS VESSEY Jim Vessey joins AWE) Trucks as fleet sales manager, leaving Renault Truck Industries, where he held the same position.

• CHANNEL ISLAND FREIGHT KINGHAM/GU1LBERT Channel Island Freight, the newly-formed line haul division of British Channel Island Ferries, has appointed David Kingham as manager of its Jersey operation, and Mark Guilbert as the Guernsey manager.

Kingham has been involved with freight handling since leaving school in 1966. Guilbert has 10 years experience in freight handling having been assistant manager for British Island Ferries.

• SLII DISTRIBUTION ILES Maurice Iles takes up the new post of fleet manager at Midlands-based S&H Dist

ribution. He will be responsible for vehicle purchase as well as fleet maintenance.

Colin Turnbull is Silver Shield Screen's new regional sales manager for Scotland.

He is responsible for new business development and will concentrate on the company's national accounts, the major insurance companies and new Scottish fleet customers.

• LANCASTER CITY TRANSPORT THOMSON Lancaster City Transport's chief inspector Jock Thomson, is taking retirement after nearly 20 years' service with the company. He started out as a conductor, moving on to become a driver and in 1974 was appointed inspector.

Charles Webb has been promoted to manufacturing director, automotive. He was quality engineering manager.

He leaves Scorpio International where he was national sales manager. • UNITED TRANSPORT LOGISTICS HAWKINS Frank Hawkins has left Hays Distribution to take up the post of commercial director with United Transport Logistics.

Rodney Brooke, former chief executive of Westminster City Council, has been appointed secretary of the Labourcontrolled Association of Metropolitan Authorities.

• MOTORWAY TYRES DAVIS Motorway Tyres has appointed Chris Davis as its new training and development manager, • TRANS GLOBAL AIR BLACK Graham Black takes on the newly-created position of director of marketing for Trans Global Air, the UK IATA airfreight forwarding company with headquarters at Heathrow Airport.

He joins after a career in the UK air cargo industry with airlines Aer Lingus and KLM and 20 years' with Mercury Airfreight which is now part of Rockwood International.

• DATATRAK HOLMES Datatrak, the Swindon-based producer of vehicle location systems, has appointed Roger Holmes as sales and marketing director to head its sales force which has more than doubled in recent months.
