Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Employee-owned Grampian Transport plans to continue its acquisition programme with the purchase of Aberdeen competitor SBG company Northern Scottish later this year.

"We hope to buy two SBG companies if the price is right," says GT chairman and managing director Moir Lockhead. "There would be great benefits in buying our local company, which would be consistent with government policy of local ownership and competition. Grampian is a highlycompetitive area for buses, and the purchase wouldn't undermine that." But Lockhead denies that GT is trying to swallow up the competition. "There's close to 60 other bus and coach companies in this area and we want the competition — it keeps us sharp. If the customer benefits, competition is a good thing."
