• Manchester City Council has bought its first Seddon Atkinson municipals with narrow-track 2-11 chassis, in a deal worth 0.5m. The 17tonners are equipped with Norba compactor bodies and are powered by the 119kW (159hp) Perkins Phaser engine driven through an Allison gearbox. The council chose the narrow track model for easy access in crowded city streets; the overall width is 2.19 metres. Seddon Atkinson says the company is delighted to have penetrated the local authority market in Seddon's home area.
