Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr. S: Hyde, said at Leeds on Wednesday that the transport arrangements of a 'large meat group in Yorkshire were chaotic at the present moment, which was a reason for the corn.pany applying. to transfer 21 vehicles from C. licence to A licence and to add four vehicles to the fleet.

Mr. Hyde said that the company wanted an A licence so that it could bring return traffic hack for other concerns outside the meat group. He admitted that the company was going out for this return loading and would charge for it at the usual rate.

Mr. Hyde said that the licence switch application could not be for B licences, as this would not enable him to offer the most economic of rates or handle traffic for other customers. By the latter means. he would be able to offer what would be called the Whatmuff Group, of whieh the companies were part, efficient services on B licence, but not the cheapest oneS.

Further serious complaints about the difficulties Of wholesale importers of meat in obtaining refrigerated transport were made by Mr. S. W. Ball, manager of the Leeds branch of C. H. Dempster Ltd.

He criticized road hauliers and British Railways on this point and said that if he could get the transport there would he a great increase in turnover.

An extra objector was the Union Cartage Co. Ltd. of London, who did not object at the previous hearing.

The Yorkshire deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. E. Randolph, adjourned the hearing.
