For many years THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR has published, under the heading of "Local Proceedings," much exclusive information relating to the purchases (agreed and contemplated) and proposals of municipal authorities. Our sources for obtaining these particulars are of a Very special character, and have lately been expanded, with the result that we intend in future to give greater prominence to this feature. The utmost care is taken to ensure accuracy and to secure the earliest possible publication of the information.

Barking Town Urban District Council is to consider the purchase of a motor fire-engine in six months' time.

Sunderland Heath Committee is contemplating the purchase of a Karrier sweeping appliance, and a few days ago a demonstration of the machine was given to members.

Southampton Corporation invites tenders for the supply of two compound steam rollers, each weighing about 8 tons nominal ; two 5-ton two-wheel endtipping trailers with steel-lined bodies ; and three 30-cwt. tipping lorries with steel-lined bodies having drop sides and tailboards. Tenders have to be delivered not later than April 18th. Gravesend Corporation has authorized the sanitary inspector to purchase future supplies of petrol from the AngloAmerican Oil Co., Ltd.

Dover Watch Committee has granted licences to the Co-operative Transport Society for four motorbuses, each to carry 32 persons. The chief constable reported that the vehicles are already licensed by the Folkestone Corporation.

Glasgow Corporation has asked a special committee to consider the advisability for applying for Parliamentary powers to lift the tramway lines on the Airdrie-Coatbridge and Paisley systems and to run motorbus services in these districts.

The tramways committee of the Bradford Corporation is inviting tenders for the supply of motorbuses, and further particulars can be obtained from Ur. It. EL Wilkinson, general manager, 7, Hall Ings, Bradford. Tenders have to be delivered not later than April nth.

Seaham Harbour Urban District Council has adjourned consideration of the application of C. H. Mason and Co., Ltd., of Gateshead, for licences in connection with a proposed express omnibus service between South Shields and 'Middlesbro.

Gravesend Corporation has received tenders for a combined motor ambulance and disiefecting van and asked the engineer to make 'further inquiries into the tenders.

The city engineer of Stoke has reported on the desirability of providing storage for petrol and a petrol pump at the garage at the Etruria works, and been instructed to obtain quotations thereof.

Glasgow Corporation, which has ordered 36 electric vehicles from Richard Garrett and Sons, Ltd., has taken delivery of the first vehicles and the cleanslag committee reports that tests have been quite satisfactory.

A few days ago the tramways committee of the Salford Corporation recommended the purchase of a further 12 32-seater buses of a type similar to those used on the 'Whitefield to Swinton and Victoria to Eccles routes.

CoulstIon Urban District Council received a number of tenders for the supply of a motor mower, these being of Atco, Dennis and Green makes. It has recommended for acceptance the tender of Chas. H. Pugh, Ltd., to sera* an Atco mower at £74 10a.
