Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AREWARDING sight was presented at Leyland last week when two financial experts in neat, dark suits crawled under a bus to see what they were paying for. As they are footing a bill for flim, their interest is, perhaps, understandable.

They were Snr. Edelmiro Hernandez, accountant, and Snr. Gregorio Merida, treasurer, of Omnibus Metropolitanos S.A., Cuba, and they went to Leyland to inspect the first of 200 buses ordered from Leyland Motors, Ltd., and MetropolitanCammell-Weymann. Ltd. Snr. Hernandez said that the order was placed for British buses because they were better than German, Japanese or American. On demonstration, the Leyland returned a fuel-consumption rate of 84 m.p.g., as against 44 m.p.g. by an American vehicle.

COMMER'S sales engineer, Mr. Cyril Claridge, has a delightfully cynical line in humour which anyone who has time to read the glossary for managers that he has compiled is welcome to share: A Programme: Any assignment that can't be completed by one telephone call.

To Expedite: To confound confusion with commotion. Channels: The trail left by inter-office memos.

Co-ordinator: The fellow who has a desk between two expeditors.

Consultant (or. Expert): Any ordinary fellow more than 50 miles from home.

To Actirate: To make carbons and add more names to the memo.

To Implement a Programme: Hire more people and expand the office.

Under Consideration: Were looking into the tiles for it. A Meeting: A mass mulling of master minds.

A Conference: A place where conversation is substituted for the dreariness of labour and the loneliness of thought.

To Negotiate: To seek a meeting of minds without knocking together of heads. Policy: Generally originated at a meeting, enabling one to avoid doing the logical thing. Very useful when confronted With staff demanding increase in pay or improved conditions.

High Policy: Similar to policy but originated by sonic fictitious manager or other unapproachable being. Guaranteed to cause maximum confusion for minimum reason.

Re-orientation: Getting used to working again.

Reliable Source: The roan you just met.

Informed Source: The man who told the man you just met. Unimpeachable Source: The man who started the rumour originally.

WHAT seems to be exaggerated pride in the town's new VV crematorium has prompted Southport Parks Committee to arrange a grand bus outing tomorrow and on Sunday—with refreshments—for councillors. officials and their wives. Because the crematorium is outside the town's boundaries the corporation are to run free bus services to it for the benefit of ratepayers, who are thought to be anxious to view it while they have the cha nee.

High, Wide and Handsome

rOACH operators have to thank the film industry for pro ducing films that require special screens, or for other reasons can be shown only in a small number of cinemas in large towns. "South Pacific," which has been running in Manchester for 18 months, is a case in point. It has drawn coach-toad upon coach-load of people from the Lancashire towns. Others, such as " Gigi," are similarly creating new traffic for the coach operator.

I understand that the business is not being transferred from the live theatre. It springs entirely from a new standard of film entertainment.
