ANrate of fuel consumption of improvement of 1 m.p.g. in the 60-seat double-deckers has been achieved by co-operation between Coventry Transport Committee and the Daimler and M.C.W. companies. There has been a reduction in unladen weight of 1 ton. Tests made by arrangement with the Dunlop concern over three years show that the average tyre life of 20 buses improved by 26 per cent, for the front covers and 33 per cent for the rear.
