R MCDOWELL HAULAGE has acquired a £750,000 warehouse in Keighley and launched a ‘pickand-pack’ service as part of a fiveyear contract with hair and beauty products manufacturer Mibelle.
The depot is the second facility opened this year by the company and a third, in Bedford, is due to open before the end of December. The pick-and-pack service has also enabled McDowell to win a further long-term contract with hair care company Lee Stafford.
“Acquiring this warehouse means we can hold a further 4,000 pallets. It has helped us to launch the ‘pick-and-pack’ service, and has created new jobs and helped get up to speed quickly for Mibelle, with whom we are currently exploring international service options,” said MD Roger McDowell.
He praised Yorkshire Bank for its long-term support and help with securing funding and said the investment had created 17 jobs.
McDowell also told CM that the firm intended to launch a rebranded home delivery service in the latter half of 2013, initially to facilitate the furniture delivery side of the business.
In the past 12 months the company has increased turnover by £3m to £12.5m.
