Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FAIRFUELUK (FFUK) took part in a roundtable discussion with the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) last week as part of the OFT’s information-gathering exercise into fuel prices (CM 13 September).

Unable to disclose the detail of the discussion, FFUK communications manager Howard Cox said the OFT was asking for “FFUK’s opinion on what’s going on in the petrol and diesel sector” .

The OFT announced last month that it was launching a six-week evidence-gathering exercise to look at possible unfair practice by fuel companies, as well as the impact of supermarkets on independent fuel retailers.

“The discussion was the start of this process; we were the first to be invited to talk to the OFT,” said Cox.

“We’ve collated 1,200 bits of evidence from our supporters, mostly talking about what’s happening in their local community, and the OFT will look at that information.” The findings of the OFT exercise are due in January 2013.

l Meanwhile, FFUK is also backing MP Robert Halfon’s bid to get the law changed so that fuel duty is shown on the receipt every time someone fills up at the pump.

It has set up an online form to register support for this call. To date over 14,000 people have signed it.
