Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An add-on spray containment valance, enabling those many trailers already fitted with suitable flaps behind their wheels to fully meet UK spray suppression legislation has been developed by Wignalls Versital of Wigan, Lancs.

The valances are moulded in 4.5mm-thick black polypropylene, and incorporate the statutory 100mm-deep vertical containment section above wheel-top level, lined with BS AU 200 absorbent material. To allow easy wheel removal, the valance hinges up through 90° (the plastic material itself being reduced in thickness allowing it to bend easily.

Simple, all-plastic press studs secure the valance in place, against simple support stays of the same material. There are no metal parts to corrode; the whole assembly is secured to the floor crossmembers by plated bolts.

Bass UK is the first operator to fit Wignalls spray containment valances on its fleet of tri-axle curtainsiders. The cross-section is designed to leave the bottom edge of the rave clear to accept the curtain strap bottom hooks. Five alternative valance sections are available.
