Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Scania has broadened its L K range with the addition of twin-steer tractive units to complement its trailing axle models at :38 tonne GCW — and a lighter, 16.26 tonne rigid series called the Urban. This is based on revised G and P82 models.

The new range of three-axled tractive units — designated 6x2/4 — comprises four models; the I'92MA with 205kW (275hp) charge-cooled, 8.5-litre DSC9-01 engine; the P or R112MA with either the 227kW (304hp) turbocharged DS11-15 or 248kW (332hp) charge-cooled DSC11-01 11litre engines; and the R142MA with a revised 14litre vee-eight.

For the latter, power is unchanged but torque has been increased by 3.0% to 1,777Nm (1,310Ibft) and its specific fuel consumption improved by 2.0% to a full load minimum of 193g/kW/hr.

All 6x2/4 models have an outer axle spread of 3.8m to give a gross vehicle weight of 22.36 tonnes, an increase of 360kg over the 6x2 lifting axle.

Suspension for all models is parabolic springs on the first and third axles with air on the second steer axle, air pressure being varied according to bogie load.

Kerb weights are comparable with current trailing axle models.

Scania's Urban 16 tonne rigids will use a new 156kW (209hp) version of the 8.5 litre engine, the DS9-04 which produces 750Nm (553lbft) of torque at 1,550rpm.

Redesigned components at the rear, and beneath, the cab have reduced the cab gap by 280mm allowing a body length increase of over 600mm for comparative wheelbases.

Scania G and P82 Urbans which use only day cabs, are up to 260kg lighter than the previous ones, using the thinner F700 frame for vehicles with mechanical suspension. Cross members are lighter while the side member thickness has been reduced by 12.5%.

A 4x2 rigid — designated Inter-Urban — has the 164kW engine and sleeper cab.
