ROLLS-ROYCE is bringing out a new V8 which has already
produced 373 kW (500 bhp) to BS Au 141a after 10 hours running. Full details so far are not available but it is noi seen as a replacement for the familiar six-cylinder
Eagle engine.
The new unit, Mr David Plastow, group managing director of Rolls-Royce Motors, told CAI at Earls Court last week, "is not dissimilar to the existing range" and is turbocharged. It is the result of a joint project between RollsRoyce, the •Ministry of Defence, and the Military Vehicles and Engineering Establishment.
Production of the new engine is not expected to start, at the earliest, before 1977.
