TOO-TIGHT restrictions on the dimensions of the Channel Tunnel should be avoided, the Freight Transport Association has told the DoE. The DoE is conducting pilot investigations on the Chunnel, though the Government is not yet committed to building it. The FTA has told the Department that the size of the tunnel should take into account future possible changes in vehicle weights and dimensions, and should not be based solely on existing figures.
