Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

One of eight industrial aerosols manufactured by Rocol Ltd., Spatter Release Spray ensures that spatter caused during welding of a galvanized-steel container by the galvanized zinc-coating process does not adhere to the body panels. Consequently a smooth, blemishfree paint finish can be obtained.

As the spray does not contain silicone, graphite or other solids, it is easily removed prior to painting, the clean metal providing a sound surface for the etch primer applied before the final paint finish.

The well-known body manufacturer, Marshall of Cambridge, employs Spatter Release Spray for the production of ISO galvanized-steel containers. Containers side panels are jigassembled as sub-assemblies. and panels are joined by welding, by the CO, semi-continuous method. Before welding, Spatter Release is sprayed overthe panels to provide a fine protective film, and after assembly but prior to painting the container is given a solvent wash which effectively removes the film of Rocol.

Apart from its use on containers Spatter Release is also sprayed into the welding gun nozzles to prevent spatter buildup restricting the filler rod orifice which causes jamming of the rod in the flexible conduit to the gun. Made by: Rocol Ltd., Swillington, Leeds.
