Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

XTENSIONS to Dunlop's proving L. ground at Erdington, Birmingham, announced this week, will enable certain types of tyre testing, hitherto confined to cars and motorcycles, to be carried out with heavy vehicles. Very accurate straight-ahead and sideways adhesion tests can now be conducted with heavy vehicles.

Built in consultation with the R.R.L., the extensions have several kinds of uniform surface and, with even textures and close control of the degree of wetness, many types of adhesion test will be possible. Kerbing damage can also be assessed on vehicles of up to 5 tons load per wheel.
