• A Thompson Heil aluminium tanker is in action providing support to the fire tenders at Liverpool Airport. The tanker is running on site at up to 52 tonnes GVW, carrying up to 38,000 litres of water.
it is built to Civil Aviation Authority standards and has a discharge rate of 4,600 litres per minute through two Godiva demountable pumps, which equates to an eight-minute supply of water for the airport's three tenders.
Running on mechanical suspension and Mentor 10-tonne axles, the trailer is similar to the standard petroleum tanker from Thompson.
Dual controls are fitted to the Godiva pumps; they are accessible from either side of the tanker for failsafe operation.
