• The future of the 200-vehicle fleet operated by Railfreight Distribution for collection, delivery and trunking for fellow BR subsidiary Freightliner has been thrown into doubt.
It has emerged that the fleet, based at UK domestic terminals, will be sold as part of Freightliner and that the main bidders for the whole of the business would all consider subcontracting the work.
Interested parties which have asked for more detailed information about Freightliner's operation from BR's Vending Unit include: TDG, CTL, P8/0 and Russell Davies and a consortium of four ports called Interconnect Rail.
