Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

needed more lined, experienced and ,nscientious recruits, but ere seems to be little terest shown by employers opening their doors. I am just back from ustralia with 15 years' tperience in road transport, rst as an hgv driver and len as a trainee manager, ider conditions that would xt be tolerated in the UK. I hold a valid International riving Permit (hgv and psv), 'Filch the DTp won't >cognise. To date, I have at found a prospective mployer willing to put me irough the training scheme perated by the road .ansport industry, so that I tay obtain a UK hgv drivers' cence, become an

mployee and, in return, ffer the benefit of my past xperience.

So here I sit, with lots to ,ffer, but with no takers.

If this training scheme is inanced by the industry, I annot help but feel that its unds are often being wasted on unsuitable persons, who vill not stay in the industry ong enough to justify the expense of their training.

Alternatively, a genuine ipplicant is required to eroduce £258 in order to be 'trained" by the same ndustry that will tubsequently employ him! Mot much encouragement :here to attract eager Norkers to the industry that is supposedly in need of them!

If any manager wishes to prove me wrong, and restore my faith in the British system and, in particular, the road transport industry, please don't hesitate. Regardless of the location of your depot, I will come to you!

R. F. T. HODGSON, Carlisle.
