Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFTER hearing customer evidence in ' applications by Grunshaw and Hartley Ltd., and Mrs. M. Matthews, both of Accrington, to switch vehicles from Contract A licences to B licences, objectors British Railways and BRS withdrew at a hearing before the North Western deputy LA at Preston on Monday.

Grunshaw and Hartley sought a new B licence for eight vehicles with conditions of building materials plant and machinery, Great Britain, for Redland Holdings Group of companies, and Mrs. Matthews was seeking a onevehicle B licence with similar conditions and to add to the conditions to an existing two-vehicle B licence.

Mr. .1. Backhouse, for both applicants, said the vehicles concerned in the applications were on contract with B. Whittaker (Bricks) Ltd. That company had been taken over by the Redland Group which wished to use the vehicles to carry for other members of the group.

Mr. W. L. Hassey, northern area sales manager of Redland Brick Ltd., said similar applications which were unopposed were granted in the Yorkshire traffic area.

Both of the objectors were employed by the group and if these applications were granted they would not lose any of their traffic.

After the objectors had indicated they had no further opposition deputy LA Mr. A. H. Jolliffe granted the applications.
