Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEARLY 50 members attended the first joint meeting of the BMA Western and South Wales areas last week at Tintern and agreed that the success of the meeting justified arranging others. The joint nature of the occasiOn really follows from the physical link provided by the Severn Bridge.

To maintain contact in between major meetings, liaison committees are to be set up to deal with general haulage and tipper operations. They will ensure exchange of information about traffic and rates in particular.

Traffic congestion on the Severn Bridge approaches was one topic, though early completion of projects on both sides of the river (for example Monmouth by-pass may be open by the end of the year) promises to bring considerable relief. Another topic which will be kept under discussion at joint meetings is licensing, the easy access from each side of the Severn creating a situation in which applications on the opposite side of the water will need to be scrutinized more closely.—H.B.C.
