Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

long-wheelbase tipper being overturned by a high side wind when the body is fully elevated?

A The danger is. of course, aggravated by

lack of rigidity of the structure as a whole and is greater if the vehicle is standing on uneven ground. It should be possible to reduce the effect of a side wind by curving the sides of the body and the Hercules Gallion Co. of America claims this. Any form of streamlining should be advantageous. A reduction of. say, 20 per cent in the effective force of a wind would be well worth having, particularly if the curved sides offered additional advantages. According to Hercules Gallion these include a substantial. weight saving for a given capacity by virtue of the inherent strength of these sides, thereby enabling bracing members to be eliminated.
