VTISCOUNT TENBY, speaking at the V anniversary luncheon of the Institute of Transport in London on Tuesday, reminded the 500 members and guests present that it was his father, Mr. David Lloyd George, who founded the Road Fund in 1909. Its declared purpose was to provide by direct taxation adequate roads for the growing motoring public.
Although sonic £5,000m. had been paid into that fund, said Lord Tenby, no more than 20 per cent. had ever been devoted to the cause for which it existed.
