was given on Tuesday for Mr. Erie Kay's appointment to the newly created position of chief engineer of the transport department. Mr. Kay, who is under 40, takes up his new job next April. The new position has been created out of two separate posts, that of rolling stock engineer (buses), which Mr. Kay now holds, and chief engineer (trams), from which Mr. Stanley Holmes retires early next year after 43 years at Blackpool.
