Death of White and Poppe's Chief.

We regret to learn of the death of Mr. Alfred J. White, managing director of White and Poppe, Ltd., Coventry. In 1899 he joined forces with Mr. Poppe, who died in 1933 and was a Norwegian engineer, who came toEngland about 40 years ago. They took over a small factory in Coventry, and, after manufacturing different types of machine, turned tothe production of internal combustion engines. A number of motor manufacturers was not slow to acknowledge the advantages of placing its engine contracts with a specialist concern engaged in this work.

During the war, the factory was greatly extended and engaged on munitions production and, at the end of hostilities, the organization was turned over to the design and mann facture of engines for the commercial vehicles of Dennis Brothers, Ltd., o which concern Mr. White was a director.
