Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS arrangements stand atripreseut, two new models are to be staged on the stand of Leyland Motors, Ltd., at the forthcoming Glasgow Show. Probably the more interesting of these is the Llama low-loading four-wheeled goods chassis, having a grass load capacity

(i.e., inclusive of body weight) of 7 tons 5 cwt.

The engine of this model is the overhead-valve unit of 4'-in. bore and 51-in. stroke, having •an R.A.C. rating of 45.5 h.p. and developing 62 b.h.p. at 1,000 r.p.m. This engine, which has a seven-bearing crankshaft, is provided with three-point suspension, and has either coil or magneto ignition (according to requirements), pressure lubrication, Still-tube radiator, and dry, singleplate clutch. In unit construction with the engine is a four-speed gearbox, transmission thence being by tubular propeller shaft with Spicer couplings.

The standard ratio of the fully floating rear axle is 6.5 to 1, The four-wheel brake system is operated by three Dewandre vacuum cylinders. The chassis is mounted on 36-in. by 8-in, high-pressure tyres (twin rear) and has a wheelbase of 17 ft. 6 ins., the weight without body being 4 tons. It will be seen that the Llama should be a most useful high-speed fourwheeler and its appearance must be particularly smart. the latest edition of the Cab, which is intended particularly for use. in

docks and for railway-yard and warehouse work generally, incorporates in place of the familiar six-cylindered engine a four-cylindered unit, and is available at present only as a short-wheelbase forward-control chassis.

The engine is a side-valve unit of 3g-in. bore and 5-in, stroke, developing 40 b.h.p. at 2,500 r.p.m. Roles a detachable cylinder head and centrifugally cast liners, as well as inserted valve seatings. There is a five-bearing crankshaft, and lubrication is carried out under pressure.

The four-cylinder Cub has a standard final-drive ratio of 6.5 to 1 and, with a wheelbase of 10 ft., will accommodate a body 10 ft.. long and 6 ft. 4 ins, in overall width. The chassis weight is 1 ton 171 cwt., and the gross load capacity is 21 tons.
