MHERE are various reasons why a passenger-carrying chassis should be chosen as the basis of a mobile showroom for representatives of business concerns. The low load-line enables the vehicle to have a smart appearance without looking top-heavy, as, of course, good headroom inside the saloon is essential. The speed of the chassis, too, is a distinct advantage for long-distance work.

An interesting example of this plan consists of a Conner Invader chassis, supplied by Commer Cars, Ltd., of Luton. to Messrs. Herbert Waken'', of Moor Street, Earlsdon, Coventry. The body of this vehicle, which possesses certain novel features, wns constructed by the Lambeth Motor Body Works, Ltd., Guildford Street, Belvedere Road, London, S.E.1. . The showcases inside have been fitted up to

c•rry haberdashery and -fancy good, anaongst other articles. •

Externally, the finish is grey as regards the body panelling, the roof is in White and the wheels, wings and mouldings are in green. The fiat panels are composed-of Plymax, whilst the radiused rear quarters -are in beaten .steeL In the 'cab, beside the driver's seat, is filotlier one designed to fold forward

• under the -scuttle in order to permit easy entrance to the shoviiroore. In front of this scat is a pull-out desk, above which is a shaded light. The company's representative can do his clerical Work on this desk without the need for office. accommodation. The upholstery of both seats is in green leather to Match the paintwork of the exterior and the driver's bucket seat employs Leveroll fittings. The Woodwork inside the cab is in polished mahogany and the glass employed throughout is Triplex. Two Windscreen wipers are installed. The accessories include a stop-light and Bosch direction indicators. Inside the showroom there are fulldepth cupboards on the near side. These are fitted with shelves which permit an infinitely variable number of positions to suit the class of goods carried at any particular time. On the off side the lower part consists of large cupboards, and there is a counter top for the display of goods. Above the counter arc smaller cupboards with specially fitted

trays. All this work is in frenchpolished mahogany, whereas the interior panelling is in figured-oak plywood ; this applies also to the roof lining. Three ventilator lights are employed and there are four railway-type electric lights:

At the rear there are wide double doors to enable goods easily to be loaded. The windows in the upper halves of these doors are equipped with spring blinds, so that business may be carried out in privacy; entry and exit are made through the sliding door at the hack of the cab. This door has a special lock, whilst the rear doors can be secured by a Yale-type 'mechanism.
