The East Lothian Road Board has just approved of a scheme of road diversion on the main road to London at East Linton. The project will result in the highway being carried to the south of this centre, crossing the River Tyne ky a three-span bridge, after which it will pass over the main railway line and again link up with the Great North Road.
The scheme is estimated to cost 242,000, of which sum £31,500 will be met by the Ministry of Transport, and £10,500 by the county authorities; £16,300 of the total sum will be expended. on the bridge over the river.
The diversion will effect a great im
provement on one of the main traffic roads in the country, and will greatly facilitate the speedy passage of motor vehicles.
