The Excellent Progress made by the Concessionnaires for Lancia Vehicles, the Curtis Automobile Co., Ltd., has Necessitated their Occupying Much More Extensive Premises.

Ayr OST CAPACIOUS premises, cover

ing area of nearly five acres and including approximately 100,030 sq. ft. of modern permanent buildings fitted throughout with electric light, gas and steam heating, have recently been taken over by the Curtis Automobile Co., Ltd., concessionnaires for Lancia vehicles.

The premises are situated at Abbey Road, Park Royal, London, N.W.10, and we were recently afforded an opportunity for making a Close inspection of them. Although they were not Constructed especially for the company, they were designed to meet the requirements of the motor business and are, consequently, thoroughly well equipped for this class of work.

The showrooms are, of course, of the ,utmost importance, and those available occupy some 10,000 sq. ft., and reference to our illustrations will show, by com. paring the sizes of the coaches shown in them, what a large amount of space is available. The offices, which are large and well lighted, are conveniently

situated on a balcony overlooking the main showroom.

A short review of the progress made by the company will be of interest. The business was first started in 1910 by Mr. T. H. Curtis and his brother, .Major P. P. Curtis, it being then known as Curtis Arthur; later the name was altered to Curtis Arthur Campbell, but it had to be suspended during the war and was leopened in January, 1919, being then reformed under the name of the Curtis Automobile Co., Ltd., with increased capital and under the directorship of Mr. T. H. Curtis, who, in 1922, was joined in the management by Mr. Leonard Stewart, when the company acquired the valuable Lancia concession.

Lancia vehicles have won a sound reputation, this being assisted by the excellent service given by the cremes sionnaires in connection with the supply of spare parts, etc. The resulting growth of the business has for some time caused considerable congestion at the works in Avon inure Road, Kensington, London, W., and this at last reached such a pitch that a 'move to the present premises was necessitated. One of the features of the new works will be the test track, the construction of which will be shortly commenced. It is interesting to note that half the cost of this track is being borne by the Lancia Co., of Turin, who were represented at the formal opening of the works by Chevalier Vincent Lancia, with whom our representative had a chat.

In the Curtis advertisement inside the front cover the address of the old works is given. The address is Curtis Buildings, Abbey Road, Park Royal, NAVA°.
