• Nissan president Yutaka Kume has revealed plans to more than double production capacity for commercial and 4x 4 vehicles in Spain to 200,000 units a year.
In the UK, production at Washington could double by the late 1990s, and Nissan has just opened a £7 million aluminium casting plant to build 200,000 cylinder heads a year from 1993.
However, a company spokesman says there are still no plans to build vans or pickups in the UK.
