show this, but full pressure stops on the dry MIRA test track at 20, 30 and 40mph were quite impressive and a great confidence booster.
Leyland's C40 day cab is not over lavish compared with some vehicles, but it is quite roomy, and has functional. layout. The tipping controls flimsy mounting at the back of the cab looked out of place.
Electrical fuses and circuits, like so many vehicles today, are housed in the centre of the dash and can be tested easily from inside the cab. Engine oil, clutch fluid and screen washer bottle are checked from under the front panel, while the coolant reservoir is mounted behind the cab.
Summary
The Constructor 24.21 in its current standard specification has much to commend it. It is priced competitively at £29,485 and the chassis cab offers good payload potential. Its gutsy 1111A engine is a vigorous performer and, depending on the amount of site work involved, the operator can expect reasonable fuel economy.
Apart from a few misgivings, such as the apparent vulnerability of the bottom mounted power take-off, the over-large turning circle and my difficulty in adjusting the seat height, the day-cabbed 24.21 looks like good value.
