A VENTURE capital organisation, English and Caledonian Investments, has put up a total of £330,000 in equity and loan finance for Tadchurch, a Corby company which assembles heavy-duty rubber suspension systems for commercial vehicles.
The announcement of the deal coincided with orders from Leyland and Volvo, which for the first time are offering the Tadchurch suspension system as optional original equipment on their three and four-axle vehicles.
Orders for over 100 vehicles systems have already been received from Wimpey, Tarmac, Redland and the North West Water Authority.
Tadchurch was formed last year by Kevin McCahill, who is managing director, and Jamie Close, marketing director, both of whom previously worked with other suspension systems cornpanies.
Rubber suspension requires little maintenance and its stability and durability make it particularly attractive for operators of heavy-duty vehicles such as tippers and ready-mix concrete lorries.
