MR. WILLIAM W. WATT has resigned from the board of the British Oxygen Co., Ltd.
MR. WILLIAM E. DUCK, chairman and managing director, Firestone Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., has completed 40 years' service with the company.
DR. N. CARPENTER, engineering research manager and test house manager, Ferodo, Ltd., has been put in charge of the company's technical sales department.
MR. A. STARR, assistant export manager, Tecalemit, Ltd.; is visiting the Middle East on a business tour. He is to tour Egypt, Bahrein, Kuwait, Iraq and Cyprus.
MR. J. S. B. GENTRy has been appointed chairman, and MR. K. A. KINDoN and Mr. W. ?dams vice-chairmen of the Tees-side and district section of the Institute of Transport.
SIR RONALD MATTHEWS has decided to relinquish his chairmanship, of the Brush Group, Ltd., and is to be succeeded by MR. G. C. R. ELY, the present deputy chairman. Sir Ronald will stay on the board.

MR. J. B. BAXTER has been appointed estate and rating surveyor, Scotland, of the British Transport Commission, who have established an estate and rating service for the whole of their undertaking in Scotland. MR. H. J. T. PAIGE . has become assistant estate and rating surveyor. Mr. Baxter joined British Road Services in 1949 as Scottish Divisional surveyor. Mr. Paige entered the service of the Midland Railway in 1912. In 1951 he was appointed district estate surveyor (north), Scottish Region. British Railways.
MR. GEORGE CARDWELL has retired from the Tilling Group. He began his career with the Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., in 1901 and in 1907 became general manager of the Hartlepools Electric Tramways Co. He later became general manager of the Macclesfield branch of British Automobile Traction, Ltd., which was formed into the North Western Road Car Co.. Ltd. In May, 1930, he was appointed to the executive of Thomas Tilling, Ltd., and during his 17 years with Tillings he has been on the boards of more than 22 subsidiary and associated companies. I4e was appointed a member of the Road Transport Executive in 1948 and was later chairman of the Road Passenger Executive and recently of many state-owned bus companies.
A.V.M. SIR WILLIAM ELLIOT has been appointed to the board of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain). Ltd.
MR. A. E. POSTLETHWAITE, works manager of the Treforest ceramics factory of K.L.G. Sparking 'Plugs, Ltd., has retired.
MR. A. M. Dix has been put in charge of new offices in Stockholm of the Rootes Group, where a sales drive is being made.

RODGERS has resigned from the national council consequent upon her retirement as transport manager of William Hancock (Brewers), Ltd.
MR. G. S. SurcLIFFE, 0.B.E., has been appointed chairman of Ferodo, Ltd., from May I, On this appointment he has relinquished the title of managing director. Mr. Sutcliffe joined Ferodo in the sales department. He was appointed home sales manager in 1945, works director in 1947, home sales director in 1953, and managing director last year.
