Drivers Association has won a £100,000 out-of-court settlement for an owner-driver who lost his driving licence after suffering a stroke in a car accident.
Frank Eddleston, who received legal funding from NODA, was given the money just over a week before his case against a motorist's insurance company was due to be heard by Manchester's district registry last week.
Eddleston, of St Helens, Merseyside had worked in the haulage business for nearly 30 years, when a vehicle ran into the back of his car in 1989.
He suffered a stroke minutes after the collision and as a result lost his driving licence. At that time he was working for RMC.
He may now try to win his licence back from the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority, says NODA's general-secretary Mick Binns, but also has plans to go into the retail trade.
