DRODUCTION of the D.9 72-scat double-decker •has begun at the Edgbaston works of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., and the first vehicles are already in service. Their serial numbers start from 4849. The D.9 has its engine forward of the independently sprung front. wheels, and the gearbox has semi-automatic control. Rubber suspension is used at front and rear, and disc brakes at the front.
The rear entrance has double jack-knife power-operated doors, and the forward engine location gives a high degree of accessibility. Power-assisted steering is employed and the braking system is of the continuous-flow hydraulic type.
