BU1LDERS of mobile sales kiosks for a variety of trades. LawtonGoodman, Ltd., 135 Cricklewood Broadway, London, N.W.2, have constructed an outfit for serving hot meals and drinks at outdoor events to which large crowds are drawn. Known as a Snacketeria, it comprises a standard Bedford 25-30-cwt. van and a twowheeled caravan-type trailer. Behind the bulkhead of the van is a 150-gallon galvanized-iron Water tank, the filler for which protrudes through to the front. The remainder of the body is used to carry churns of milk, supplies of food and bins for refuse.
The chassis members have been extended 1 ft. 6 in. at the rear to form a support for the towing ball. An intelligent feature of the hitch gear is that the locking lever is painted red one side and white the other. When in the secured position, the white side is uppermost and contrasts with the colour of the rest of the gear.
There is, a catch which can be released when reversing to put the overrun brakes of the trailer out of action. A jockey wheel, in addition to let-down jacks at each corner of the trailer, is provided.
There are two serving hatches on the near side. At the front is a water tank supplied from the tank in the Bedford. a hand pump being provided. A small sink occupies the front near-side corner and in the other is a tea urn. Between the two stands a steam cooker.
Behind the serving hatch is a large grill and hotplate with six Calor-gas burners fed by four cylinders of gas at the rear. Two insulated urns in which tea-may be kept and a coffee-making urn complete the culinary equipment, Other fittings include three gas lights, a clock and a cash till.
